I founded Chaloult Lavoie Avocats in 2024, after working for several years in litigation and business law firms in downtown Montreal. My practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, as well as construction and insurance law. My clientele includes residential and commercial lessors, contractors, SMEs, housing cooperatives, and condominium associations, as well as individuals dealing with real estate, corporate, and contractual disputes, among others. I also have substantial experience in disciplinary and administrative law, as I have long advised and represented professionals, their associations, and their orders in disciplinary and administrative proceedings.
As a litigation attorney, I act as both plaintiff and defense counsel. I plead daily before the civil and commercial chambers of the Superior Court in contractual and extra-contractual claims, shareholder disputes, and injunctive relief, as well as in matters of debt collection and enforcement of judgments and securities. Several cases also lead me to represent clients before the Tribunal administrative du logement (TAL), various administrative and arbitration tribunals, and other disciplinary committees.
At nearly 40 years of age, I have devoted my entire professional life to advising, representing, and defending many types of clients in over a hundred legal cases. Over the years, the recipe for my success and that of my clients has remained the same: treat their cases as my own, never give up, and achieve concrete results.
